The Coolest Cooler

Possibly the best thing ever invented.

The Coolest Cooler Esky. Quite possibly the best invention ever (well if you’re Australian anyway). Not only does this Esky transport your cold beverages and ice around, it comes complete with a waterproof bluetooth built-in speaker. You can also recharge your devices with the built-in USB charger. But the most amazing thing (well I think it is) is the blender attachment on top of the Coolest Cooler. Oh, and it also has a bottle opener.

The Coolest Cooler Add Ons

The complete list of add ons

So $185 dollars will get you your very own Coolest Cooler (shipping extra). Getting one to Australia may prove costly but if we sit tight I reckon it won’t be long till we can get our hands on one. For more info head on over to their Kickstarter campaign and check out more about the Esky of the 21st Century.

Given the opportunity, would you leave it all behind to live on Mars? The Mars One project is offering just that. In 2024 groups of four chosen astronauts will be heading to live on mars. The big problem being that there is no way to come home. “Mars One Way” documents five hopeful Mars One astronauts as they contemplate the reality of leaving planet Earth forever, for a new home on Mars.

The Water Hoverboard

Ever since Marty McFly met The Doc and went “Back To The Future” we’ve been waiting for the day when we can get our hands on a Hoverboard. Well wait no longer cause this is as close as we’re going to get for a while. The Worlds First Water Hoverboard from Rocky Mountain Fly Board is here and and it has the internet excited.

Created by jet ski champion Franky Zapata who created the Fly Board a while ago and has since been back in the work shop. What he created has really stepped it up a notch compared to the Fly Board. Essentially a wakeboard fitted with a high powered water jet giving the rider the ability to get up to 16 foot air time and speeds up to 25 Kph.

We could tell you all the rest of the specifics but we think watching the clip for yourself will explain everything. Or at least have you saying “I want one!”

It’s here and it’s big. The new Instagram update is set to give you more control with a stack of new photo editing tools.

Along with the above changes which have us here pretty excited, there are a range of tools to choose from as well such as:

  • Tilt Shift
  • Sharpen
  • Adjust
  • Brightness
  • Warmth
  • Saturation
  • Highlights
  • Shadows
  • Vignette

Double tap the filter and you can change the intensity of the filter with a handy slider.

We could honestly take you step by step through the new update but we suggest you download it and get exploring.

Apple is set to reveal its new Connected Home Platform “GoogolPlex” at the upcoming WWDC, which will take place next week in San Francisco.

Essentially a Connected Home is a house/home fitted with internet connectivity. Granted you do need to have all the cool new gadgets in order for your iOS device to connect to and operate. Looks like we won’t be waiting too long as there is set to be a flood of connected appliances coming out later this year.

So this platform aims to let the user (who owns an iOS device) to be able to control elements of their home with a more intelligent version of Siri. When integrated into your home there won’t be much you can’t control as long as you have the internet connected devices. Wirelessly command your lighting, heating, car, music, TV and even security cameras. The possibilities are almost endless.

GoogolPlex from Four Loop on Vimeo.

This begs one question with us. Why don’t you just get up and turn it on/off or up/down? Are we destined to become lazy due to advancing technology? Bring on the future we say. Just remember to exercise, or we’ll all end up like the people on “Wall E”

 Augmented Reality Done Right

Pepsi Max Bus Stop 2

As far as I’m concerned, this may be the best advert/prank ever conceived. Pepsi converted a regular bus stop in London into one of the most engaging uses of augmented reality I’ve ever seen. Grand Visual, who produced the installation which is exclusive to Pepsi placed it in a bus stop in busy Oxford St. At a glance it looks like a display with a camera showing you the street view on the other side. Wait long enough and you’ll see giant toy robots, meteors and aliens destroy London.

While this may not have intended to be a global campaign since it was only produced on one busy street. Pepsi Max has “nailed it” with over 5 million views on You Tube. Pretty sure you can class this as Viral.

Remember when you were a kid and you parents gave you a pencil and paper to keep you entertained when you were out (could be showing my age here). Have you seen more and more children with iPads and iPhones playing games to be kept entertained? I actually think this is a great thing in moderation and as long as the games are educational and expanding children’s minds.

VTech have jumped on this band wagon in a big way and created the first Smartwatch for children ages 6-12. The KidiZoom Smartwatch was recently showcased by the US based company that makes educational toys at the 2014 International Toy Fair.

While not being technically smart (no wifi capability) it still does boast a 1.4 inch colour, touch screen display, 20 different watch faces, a .3 mega pixel camera that can shoot photos and video, voice recorder and educational games. Oh, and it tells the time too.

It may not have actual internet capabilities, it does come with a USB port so the kiddies can upload and down load pics and videos (or their parents can do that for them more likely).

Emma Birely from VTech is quoted saying to Gizmag “Kids see their parents with these watches and tablets and want to use them, so it’s meeting those needs and making it kid-friendly,” Really? Is there an actual need for this. Personally I didn’t have my first watch till I was in High School. When I was 6, I didn’t care what the time was. As long as it wasn’t bath time or bed time.

The Vtech KidiZoom smart watch is set to be launched later this year in March. It will be at about the $65 US mark.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not completely against this. It’s just that there is a big wide world to explore out there when you’re a kid, and all you need to be armed with is a sense of adventure and your imagination. Oh, and google maps so you don’t get lost.

I must admit that I was bit skeptical on this plugin at first. I was expecting very average icons to be available and not many at that. But the more I search inside the plugin the more I find. With thousands of vector based assets just a few clicks away, this plugin is definitely proving it’s worth. Oh and did we mention its downloadable to Photoshop and Illustrator for FREE. Photoshop/Illustrator Plugin is so easy to use with its drag and drop functionality and easily searchable icons, the only problem that you may have is choosing from the thousands of assets. All the icons are in vector format and can be inserted as a smart object and are completely scaleable.

No need to worry about copyright either. All of the icons are under the Creative Commons Attribution license. So feel free to use them for commercial or personal use. Also if you are a developer yourself you can contact the plugin developer to have your icons considered for the plugin as well.

Hope you enjoy this as much as we do
